Terms of service
The agreement between Perzo and the stores that install and use it.
Last updated: October 17, 2026
1. The service
Perzo is a Shopify app that lets a store’s shoppers turn a photo into artwork in a style the store publishes, approve one version and buy it; Perzo then links the approved artwork to the order and prepares a print file. By installing or using Perzo, the store (“you”) accepts these terms. If you accept them for a company, you confirm you may bind it.
2. Your account
Keep your login details safe and your account information accurate. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including the team members you invite.
3. Plans, billing and the free trial
- Plans include a number of generations per billing cycle. Past that, each generation is charged at your plan’s rate if you allow it.
- Charges are billed through Shopify, in the currency of your plan, together with any taxes Shopify applies.
- New stores may get a free trial when they choose a plan. During the trial, generations are limited per day and to the credits included in the plan (plus any promotional credits we grant), and no extra generations are billed.
- Unused generations do not carry over. Fees already billed are not refunded, except where the law requires or Shopify’s policies provide.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice; the change applies from your next billing cycle.
4. Your content and your shoppers
- You keep the rights to what you put into Perzo (styles, reference images, product photos) and to the artwork generated for your store, as far as the law allows rights in AI-generated images.
- You give Perzo the permission it needs to store, process and display that content to run the service for you.
- You are responsible for having the rights to the content you upload, for telling your shoppers how their photos are used (for example in your own privacy policy), and for the products you sell.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use Perzo, or let your shoppers use it, to create or sell:
- content that is illegal, sexual, hateful or violent, or that involves minors in any inappropriate way;
- images of people without their permission, or that impersonate or harass anyone;
- content that copies artists’ works, characters or trademarks you have no right to use.
Do not attempt to break, overload or reverse engineer the service. We may suspend generation for a store that breaks these rules.
6. AI results
Artwork is generated by AI models. Results vary between runs and depend on the photo and the style; they may not always look like the subject. Test your styles before publishing them. Shoppers approve one exact image before buying, and that image is the one linked to the order.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep Perzo available and your files safe, but the service is provided “as is”, without a guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may improve or change features; if we remove something important, we will give reasonable notice.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, Perzo is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost sales, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Ending
You can stop at any time by uninstalling Perzo from Shopify; billing stops as Shopify ends the subscription. We may end the service for a store that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. After uninstalling, your data is deleted as described in the privacy policy.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and will note the date above. For significant changes, we will tell you in the app or by email before they apply.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. Where the law of your country gives you rights that cannot be waived, those rights still apply.
12. Data processing
This section is the data processing agreement between you and Perzo. It applies to the personal data of your shoppers that Perzo processes for you, and takes effect on September 29, 2026.
Roles and data
You are the controller of your shoppers’ personal data; Perzo is your processor and acts only on your instructions, which are these terms and the settings you choose in Perzo. The data involved is: the photos shoppers upload and their crops, the artwork generated from them and the approved version with its print file, text shoppers enter for personalization (such as a name or a dedication), the label your team may type when it makes art for a customer by hand (for example a name or phone number), the order and line item references of personalized items, Shopify’s customer identifier as a pseudonymous reference, and technical hashes of IP address and device used for abuse limits and A/B tests of the personalizer (cleared after 30 days, or once a running test’s result is final). We do not request shopper contact or payment fields from Shopify. If you turn on the art reminder email, it also includes the email address a shopper types after ticking the consent box, with the consent text and time: used for one email only, erased once that email is sent or no longer applies, and deleted with its record after 60 days (opt-outs are kept as keyed hashes).
Purpose
We use this data only to create the artwork, show it to the shopper, link the approved version to your order and prepare its print file, to report revenue and usage to you, and to keep the service secure and billed correctly. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use shopper photos to train AI models. OpenAI’s API terms exclude data sent through its API from model training by default.
Sub-processors
- OpenAI (United States): generates the artwork from the photo and the style instructions.
- fal.ai (United States): generates the artwork when a style uses an image model hosted there.
- Anthropic (United States): its Claude models check the quality of Perzo’s marketing videos and images; frames may include artwork or photos.
- Cloudflare: stores files in a private R2 bucket.
- OVHcloud: hosts our servers, database and backups.
- Google Workspace: our email, if a support request includes shopper data.
- Resend (United States): delivers the art reminder email, if you turn it on, to the shopper who asked for it.
Only the photo, its crop, the style’s instructions and reference images are sent to the image providers; no shopper identifiers or personalization text are. The providers may keep inputs and outputs for a limited time under their own policies. Store analytics we may send to Google Analytics carry no shopper data (see the privacy policy). Our internal alerts (email and WhatsApp) carry no shopper data. We will list new sub-processors on this page before they process your shoppers’ data; if you object on reasonable grounds, you may stop using Perzo.
Security
- Encryption in transit: traffic to Perzo and from Perzo to its providers uses TLS.
- Encryption at rest: files are stored encrypted at rest in Cloudflare R2; the database and its backups are stored encrypted at rest; Shopify access tokens are additionally encrypted by the app.
- Files stored by Perzo are private and accessed only through signed-in sessions or authorized, time-limited links.
- Access control: each store’s data is kept apart from other stores’ by the database itself, team members sign in to reach their store’s data only, and only authorized Perzo staff can access production systems.
Retention and deletion
Files stored by Perzo become eligible for automatic deletion on these defaults, which you can change in Settings:
- Photos and artwork of personalizations that were not ordered: after 30 days from creation.
- Photos, artwork and print files of ordered items: after 360 days from the order.
- Photos uploaded to the live demo on www.perzo.art: after about 1 day, whatever the settings.
Text shoppers enter for personalization is kept with the approved item, and your team’s label with the art made by hand, until a redaction request or uninstall. Your team can also delete art made by hand, with its label and text, while no order holds it.
- When a shopper’s data must be erased, Shopify sends us a customers/redact request: we delete that shopper’s photos, artwork, personalization text and the labels of art made by hand for their orders, and remove the customer reference and technical hashes. We keep the order and line item references, amounts and the personalization reference code, no longer linked to the customer, for your reports and billing.
- After you uninstall, Shopify sends us a shop/redact request: we delete all of your store’s files, personalization text and labels, replace order, line item, store and team identifiers with random ones, and keep usage, billing and cost records (amounts, dates and plans) without Shopify’s store identifier, for accounting. Anonymized structures without personal data, such as renamed products and styles and approval records, also remain.
- You can also ask us to delete your store’s data at any time by writing to support@perzo.art.
- Deleted data may remain in our backups for about 14 days, until those backups are deleted. We always keep the most recent complete backup, so if new backups fail, that one is kept longer until a new one succeeds.
Shopper requests
When Shopify forwards a shopper’s request for their data (customers/data_request), we generate a report automatically, listing that shopper’s personalized items, the text they entered, your team’s labels for art made by hand for their orders and the files still available; we deliver it to you manually on request. We will help you answer other requests to access, correct or delete data, and forward to you any request we receive directly.
Security incidents
If we become aware of a breach affecting your shoppers’ personal data, we will notify you without undue delay (we aim to notify within 72 hours), with what we know about it and the steps we are taking, and keep you updated.
International transfers
Some sub-processors process data outside your country, including in the United States. Our sub-processors’ data processing terms include standard contractual clauses for international transfers where applicable.
Information and audits
On reasonable request, we will give you the information you need to show that this section is followed, such as answers to security questionnaires.
