Facts about other apps come from their public Shopify App Store listings and websites, checked on October 8, 2026 (sources at the end); where a listing does not say something, we say so instead of guessing.
How we chose the apps
We included the apps we found whose public listing or website says shoppers upload a photo that is turned into artwork with AI. The list is not exhaustive: apps we did not find, or that launched after the check date, are not in it. Product personalizers without an AI photo-to-art feature (text, clipart or photo upload only) are left out. Two of the apps here, Customily and Teeinblue, are full product personalizers in which AI effects are one feature among many; the others are built around the photo-to-art step.

- How the art is made
- The merchant sets up art styles; the shopper uploads a photo and chooses one. It can run on the merchant’s own Google Gemini API key.

- Generates print-ready files automatically, and connects to print-on-demand providers to automate fulfillment.

- $49 a month per platform plus a fee per unique personalized item sold (not per order or unit quantity), from $1 down to $0.10 by volume.

Perzo (our app)
- How the art is made
- The store creates its own styles: upload one to four examples of the finished look you sell and Perzo Guide describes it in short points you can edit, or start from a ready style. Each saved change creates a new version you can test on sample photos, compare and roll back. Shoppers pick from your published styles and never write prompts.
- Before buying
- Shoppers see the art on your product when a mockup is set up, or the artwork itself without one, and approve one exact image: “This exact image goes with your order. It will not be changed or recreated.” Previews carry a watermark by default.
- Print file
- Each linked personalized order appears in Perzo with the original photo and the approved art, and its production file is prepared there: at the product’s print size, checked against its minimum DPI, downloadable as PNG, JPEG, PDF or TIFF.
- Pricing
- Monthly plans billed through Shopify, each with generations included. One generation is one AI art creation, and it counts whether or not the shopper buys. Extra generations are charged at the plan’s rate only if you turn them on, up to a cap you set.

How to choose
- Who decides the look. Preset effects are quick to switch on; a style your store creates and tests gives the results your own look. Prompt-based apps sit in between: you get the look your prompt produces.
- What the shopper sees. Check whether the shopper sees the art on your product before paying, and whether the image they see is the one that gets printed.
- The file and how it reaches your printer. If you fulfill through a print-on-demand provider, an app with a direct integration saves a manual step. If you print in-house, check the file’s size, resolution and format.
- How you are billed. The apps here charge per item sold, per order, per unit sold, per image or per generation. Per-sale pricing costs nothing when a shopper doesn’t buy; per-generation pricing also counts versions that don’t lead to a sale. Estimate your cost per order from your own volume and from how many versions shoppers create.
- Track record. Several of the apps built around the photo-to-art step, Perzo included, have few or no reviews yet. The two full personalizers have hundreds.
- Your own photos. Use the trials or free plans where available: run the photos your shoppers will really send, not only your best ones, through each app you shortlist, and look at the results at print size.
When another app fits better
- You need a full personalizer, with clipart and designs on many product types besides the AI step: Customily or Teeinblue. If you also sell outside Shopify, Customily’s pricing page lists Shopify, Etsy, Amazon, WooCommerce and Shoplazza.
- You want orders sent automatically to a print-on-demand provider: Customily and Teeinblue list several providers; Podtrait lists Printify.
- You prefer to pay only when something sells: Podtrait’s free-to-install plan charges per unit sold.
- You sell framed photos and want a frame selector: Photo Frame Customizer is built around framed products.
- You want shoppers to write their own prompts: PODai supports text prompts from shoppers; Perzo does not.
- You want an app with a long review history: Customily and Teeinblue each have hundreds of reviews on their listings.
Another approach: styles by artists
ARTIFY turns customer photos into art prints in styles by real artists, who earn royalties when their style is used. Its listing does not say whether AI is used, so it is not in the table above.
